Trainer and Syndicate comments for Jimmys Sister
This half-sister to our own very consistent and successful chaser Little Jimmy and had her debut in a bumper race in the 2017-18 National Hunt season.
This filly has been on our radar for three years - when we discovered that our top winning chaser Little Jimmy had this half sister. The mare has only had two offspring, and once we knew she could become available, we and the trainer Tom Gretton planned to keep tabs on her development and secure her before reaching the sales ring. we went to see her at the breeders at the end of Spring and were suitably pleased with her to buy her and place her in training for this next winter season.
This filly is interesting from a couple of perspectives - as she is a very decent size, (bigger than Jimmy was at this stage of his life), and she is conformed nicely. Obviously she is closely related to a very decent chaser, but her sire Denounce is an interesting mating. This sire has only had a few mares go to him, but he has had considerable success with a good number of them at distances up to a mile and a half on the flat. Denounce himself showed ability on his three starts for Juddmonte before injury ruled him out of further races.
This filly had an outing in June 2018 simply to give her experience before she was turned out for her summer break.
Jimmys sister will build-up for this winter and she will continue to be schooled over hurdles culminating in her opening run over hurdles in the 2018-19 season sometime in October or November 2018. The plan is to go into Maiden hurdle races and let her grow in confidence. If she proves to be robust, then she may well even jump a chase fence in the spring of 2019.
Little Jimmy is a really popular, winning syndicate horse, and we believe Jimmys Sister has the profile to be very similar. Like her brother, she will need time to find her feet - but that is all part of the process of bringing a chaser along.
